Third meeting of the WHO European Region Sugar and Calorie Reduction Network: London, United Kingdom, 26–27 March 2025, meeting report

Overview

The third meeting of the Member State-led WHO Sugar and Calorie Reduction Network was co-hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Department of Health and Social Care, Government of the United Kingdom. The meeting brought together 36 Member States and covered an important set of issues related to sugar and calorie reduction: commercial determinants of health, nutrient profiles and front-of-pack labelling, fiscal levers, advertising, and monitoring. Countries shared their own experiences and discussed ways to address the multiple challenges that policy-makers face in implementing policy in these complex areas. WHO shared details of ongoing work to develop tools and resources to support Member States in their efforts in sugar and calorie reduction.
