Updates from the network
The new Regions for Health Network catalogue of regions 2024
The Regions for Health Network (RHN) comprises member regions and associated member regions of countries in the WHO European Region. Since its creation in November 1992, the Network has influenced subnational activities in support of regional and local health policy development, building on the WHO European Programme of Work, 2020–2025 – “United Action for Better Health” (EPW).
Lombardy region advances health equity, as prevention plan nears completion
The Lombardy region in Italy is doubling down on its commitment to health equity as it approaches the final leg of its “Regional Prevention Plan (PRP) 2021–2025”. As a member of the WHO Regions for Health Network, Lombardy has embraced a comprehensive approach to tackling health disparities, recognizing that effective prevention requires both behavioural change and systemic reform.
Towards healthy and inclusive ageing: lessons from the regions
As the WHO European Region and neighbouring regions face a demographic shift toward older populations, WHO’s policies on healthy ageing are guiding governments and local authorities toward innovative, evidence-based strategies. Within the WHO Regions for Health Network (RHN), member regions are translating WHO’s vision into practice through targeted initiatives that support the complex needs of older adults – spanning health promotion, mental well-being, social inclusion and intergenerational solidarity.
